The client

A government utility running a major Gulf city's electricity and water: desalination, distribution and wastewater. It is regarded as one of the more technically demanding utilities in the world to work with.

The problem

The utility needed an electronic gateway to move data from water meters across the city onto its secure servers. Documentation was thin, the security protocols were strict, and an incumbent vendor already held the ground.

What we built

We built the middleware to the utility's standards rather than around them:
